Insurance underwriting support for submissions and renewals

Actigy BPO prepares commercial insurance submissions and renewals for underwriter review. We index the documents, reconcile exposure schedules and flag information a broker still needs to supply. Your underwriter sets terms and decides whether to quote, bind or decline.

Agree the scope, access and reviewer before a paid pilot.

What goes into a review-ready submission?

Agree the file checklist by line of business. The submission record identifies the insured entity, requested coverage, proposed effective dates, version of the exposure schedule and loss information received. The preparer distinguishes an unanswered field from a broker-confirmed zero. The authorized underwriter decides whether a discrepancy needs referral.

  • Index the application, schedules and supporting documents by submission, version and receipt date.
  • Compare exposure fields across sources. For discrepancies, record the field, both values and who can resolve them.
  • Provide the renewal checklist, outstanding broker requests and files approaching their target review dates.

Worked example

What happens when two documents disagree?

A property schedule shows twelve locations while the application lists ten. The reviewer records both counts, identifies the two unmatched locations and asks the designated owner for clarification using your approved process. The submission is marked as waiting for information. It does not move to pricing on an assumed location count.

Who owns the insurance decision?

Your authorized underwriting team decides appetite, coverage, pricing, referrals, quote wording and whether to bind, amend or decline. Define which broker communications an assistant may prepare or send, who approves exceptions and where documents can be accessed. These boundaries also apply at renewal.

How should we pilot a submission desk?

Start with one product line, one distribution channel and a representative set of new or renewal submissions. Agree which fields matter for underwriting review. Measure completeness at handoff, returns for missing information, backlog age and the share of files waiting on a broker rather than a preparer.

Before the first live queue

Bring the inputs that shape your scope

The proposal should identify what can be assigned, who can decide, and how you will accept the work. Start with one representative queue; agree any expansion after reviewing the pilot.

  1. Define the workload

Product line, submission mix and renewal dates.

  2. Agree the controls

Approved evidence checklist and broker contact procedure.

  3. Review the right measures

Missing-field returns, file readiness and underwriting review time.

Before you decide

Buyer questions

Clarify the work, access and approval boundaries before assigning a team.

Can we assign only the renewal preparation?

Yes. Scope document requests, renewal checklists, data updates and reminders separately from new submissions. Your authorized underwriters review changes in exposure and decide renewal terms.

Can Actigy work in our existing policy system?

Identify your submission inbox, policy or underwriting platform, relevant fields and permission levels. We can scope entry and document handling in approved systems with an escalation path for exceptions.

What drives the quote?

Product line, documents per file, incoming submission quality, seasonality, approved communications and depth of QA affect effort. Share volumes and a redacted sample through the approved channel before agreeing capacity.

Does this service include loan or credit underwriting?

This page covers commercial insurance submission and renewal administration. Actigy BPO prepares insurance documents and exposure information for your underwriter. Loan origination, credit decisions and mortgage underwriting are outside this service scope, as are insurance pricing, binding and the decision to accept a risk.
