A calculation supports a review. It does not authorize payment, filing, release or a claim.

Check the initial worked example

With 120 open files, 12 arrivals per business day and 6 analyst hours, an analyst spending 24 minutes per file can finish 15 files per day. Reviewing 25% of files for 12 minutes each takes 45 minutes per day at that throughput. With two reviewer hours available, analysis limits throughput. The net reduction is three files per day, or 40 business days under these assumptions.

A repeatable method

How to use the worksheet

For payment service providers and acquirers planning absence cover, a temporary peak or a defined backlog.

Download the editable workbook
  1. Choose one planning window and group pending files by the work each needs. Keep files awaiting merchant information visible as blocked work.

  2. Enter the new files expected in the same window. Estimate analyst and reviewer minutes for each group using your own sampled files.

  3. Compare demand with available work hours for each role. Reserve time for quality review, rework and absences before setting a completion date.

A second worked example

Suppose 12 files each need 25 analyst minutes. That is five analyst hours. If each also needs ten minutes of review, budget another two reviewer hours. A file waiting for ownership evidence may remain open even when both people have spare capacity.

What this tool can establish

The inputs are planning assumptions. The result does not score merchant risk, establish legal requirements, approve a merchant or guarantee backlog clearance. Use aggregate counts and fictional examples. Do not enter identity records.
